Open-Door Sessions are held on the final Saturday of every SMS term. Parents are invited to stay and listen/observe.

Arts Award

On March 31st, Swavesey Music School was awarded an Arts Award by the South Cambridgeshire Arts Council at their annual award ceremony at Comberton Leisure Centre. The award is in recognition of the music making on a Saturday morning at Swavesey Village College, how the music school caters for the community and the unique role of a secondary school in being behind such a venture

Further Arts Awards

were given to Audrey Caldwell (2011), Kate Woolf (2012) and Phil Norton (2012). Phil was recognised for his rock school work both within SMS and the wider community via Rock Summer School. Kate was recognised for her musical contributions to SMS and a variety of primary schools and local churches.

The Cambridge High Sheriff’s Award

 In February 2011, the High Sheriff, Nigel Brown awarded funding towards the school in recognition of the music-making within the school and future projects. Four of our students hosted a verbal bid to the panel, chaired by the High Sheriff himself.
